Last season the CySO conveyed to us regards from Vienna, and this season it brings us regards from Greece with award-winning saxophonist Theodore Kerkezos, twice-proposed by the Naxos label in the 50th Grammy Awards, and described by “Gramophone” magazine as “One of the most astounding performers of the day.” And even though we are transported to landscapes and rhythms of Greece through the music of Konstantinos Grigoriou, Nikos Skalkottas and Mikis Theodorakis, we also venture into saxophone music from Russia and Spain, with Alexander Glazunov and Pedro Itturalde respectively.
