Francesco Quaranta was born in Milan and attended the Conservatory of Music “G. Verdi” in Milan, obtaining a Diploma with first class and honours. He continued with advanced studies at the “Hochschule für Musik” in Munich under Günter Passin, and at the “Musik – Akademie der Stadt” in Basel. He also studied Baroque Oboe with Paolo Grazzi at the City CyYSO Academy of Milan, and orchestral conducting with Franco Gallini. He is the winner of more than ten competitions such as the “Premio Cesare Barison” in Trieste (1989) and the 4th International Oboe Competition “Giuseppe Bongera” in Asti. Francesco Quaranta has collaborated with conductors such as Daniele Gatti, Leonard Bernstein and Yuri Bashmet. He has toured extensively all over Italy, many European countries, the USA, Korea and Japan, performing the greatest part of the entire oboe repertoire and recording the premieres of works by contemporary Italian composers. His extensive musical activity includes collaborations and appearances with orchestras such as the RAI Symphonic Orchestra of Milan, Arcata Stuttgart, i Pomeriggi Musicali, International of Murcia of Spain, Beograd Chamber Orchestra, Angelicum of Milan, Ensemble Contemporaneo Italian, Teatro Regio of Turin, Chamber Orchestra of “B. Marcello” of Teramo, Milano Classica, Teatro Carlo Felice Orchestra of Genoa, United European Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Italy, Cantelli Orchestra of Milan with whom he also recorded the oboe concerto of R. Strauss. He has also participated in festivals and important seasons such as in Salzburg (Easter Festival), Aix en Provence, Murcia, Valencia, Milan, Rome, Ravenna, Seoul, Sendai (Japan), Prague, Fiume of Croatia, Wien Modern (Musikfverain) etc., His performances always receive the highest critical acclaim by the most important national and foreign newspapers. Francesco Quaranta has made numerous recordings (“Bayer Records”, “Dynamic”) and received excellent reviews by the Classical CD magazine for the recording of two unpublished concertos for oboe and strings by G. Sammartini. Since February 2006 Francesco Quaranta is the conductor of the Orchestra Cantelli in Milan.
Giancarlo De Lorenzo studied at the CyYSO Academy of Brescia and graduated in Organ and Organ Composition under M° F. Castelli. After being awarded the Diploma of “Maturità Classica” he attended the University courses of the D.A.M.S. Music section at the faculty of “Letters and Philosophy” in Bologna. At the same time he studied composition and orchestral conducting with M° G. Cataldo. He has toured all over Italy and abroad, conducting several orchestras and famous soloists such as L.G. Uriol, M. Fornaciari, S. Krylov, F. Manara, A. Persichilli, P. Hommage, E. Klein, G. Costa, E. Bronzi, M. Rudy, P. Entremont. B Engerer, E. Virsaladze, S. Mintz, U.Ughi and Misha Maisky.He has also successfully conducted orchestras such as the Symphony Orchestras of Sassari and Sanremo, the Orchestra of the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, the Solists of Perugia, the Padova and Veneto Orchestras, the Phiharmonic Orchestra of Turin, the Chamber Orchestra of Florence, the “Virtuosi Italiani” and the chorus “La Stagione Armonica”. He has also conducted the European Philharmonic Orchestra of Magdeburg, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Nations at the Festival of the Nations at Bad Wörishofen, the Chamber Orchestras of Mainz and Constantinoupole, the Symphony Orchestra of Wroclaw (Poland) and Kiev, the Orchestra of Ermitage at S. Petersburg, the Helsinki Baroque Ensemble, the Riverside Symphony Orchestra (New Jersey), the State Symphony Orchestra of Mèxico and the Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre of Brasil. Giancarlo de Lorenzo has collaborated with the publishing house Agorà in Milan, for which he has recorded the complete String Symphonies of F. Durante, neo-baroque works by 20th century Italian composers, J. Myslilecek’s works for string instruments, works by F.L. Gassman and Piano Concertos by Mozart. He is the main Conductor of the Orchestra “Vox Aurae” of Brescia and Artistic Director of the musical seasons “Concerti per una Stagione” and “Preludi d’ Estate” in Brescia. In addition he is the main Guest Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of San Remo, and since March 2003 he is the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Orchestra of the Teatro Olimpico of Vicenza.
