While Konrad von Abel served as Artistic Assistant to Sergiu Celibidache with the Munich Philharmonic between 1986 and 1996, he assumed responsibility for Celibidache’s conducting class and became increasingly involved with numerous international conducting activities. He conducted several orchestras such as the Sinfonica Siciliana di Palermo, Munich Philharmonic, Bern Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica di Bari, Orchestra Alessandro Scarlatti di Napoli, Orchestre Régional de Picardie, Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, as well as numerous orchestras in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Venezuela, the Philippines and Japan. From 2004 to 2006 he was artistic director of the Conservatoire National de Bordeaux Symphony Orchestra. Konrad von Abel founded the MonteverdiChor München, whose chief conductor he remains up to today. This highly qualified a cappella ensemble has given concerts throughout Europe. Since 2006 he is director of the vocal ensemble Argentum Vivum in Schwaz/Austria. He holds seminars on musical phenomenology and chamber music in Paris and Madrid as well as conducting workshops in Munich, Barcelona and Bucharest. Participants from around the world attend his master classes on orchestral and choral conducting in France, Germany and in the Czech Republic and Romania.
Pianist Nicolas Costantinou has given numerous concerts in Austria, Cyprus, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Finland, France, Portugal, Switzerland, the UK and the USA and regularly appears in prestigious halls such as Wigmore Hall, the Brahms Saal of the Musikverein in Vienna, the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, and the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. He is regularly invited to perform at international Chamber Music Festivals around Europe such as the Kuhmo, the Oulunsalo Soi (Finland), the Gödöllő (Hungary), the Ledra Music Soloists and the International Kypria Festival (Cyprus). His debut in London’s prestigious Wigmore Hall was received with favourable reviews. Nicolas Costantinou is a summa cum laude graduate of the Greek Hellenic Academy of Music, the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Szeged, the Ferenc Liszt University of Music in Budapest and holds a Master of Music in Performance from the U.S. Cleveland Institute of Music. He is currently working towards his Doctor of Music degree at London’s Royal College of Music. His research interest focuses on the chamber music of Ernő Dohnányi. He has studied with Márta Gulyás, Dr. Daniel Shapiro, Sándor Falvai, Ferenc Kerek, Tania Economou and Wanda Economou-Constantinou. He has also participated in master classes by Dmitri Bashkirov, Nicolas Economou, Vadim Suchanov, Ferenc Rádos and Christodoulos Georgiades. Future appearances include concerts in London, Basil and Monteira. Nicolas is currently teaching prodigious children in his home country. Nicolas is currently a specialized scientist at the European University and the University of Lefkosia.
