The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra pays tribute to the 150th birth anniversary of the post-Wagnerian composer Richard Strauss (1864 – 1949), with a Sarabande and his masterful, virtuosic Concerto for violin, interpreted by the distinguished violinist Wolfgang Schroeder, soloist and concertmaster of the CySO. These are followed by two rarely heard works of the 20th century: the Concert Romanesc by Ligeti, which is based on Romanian folk melodies and one of the most resourceful and attractive works by Martinů.
