The four excellent musicians of the CySO open the concert with one of Beethoven’s popular string quartets which resembles stylistically his teacher Haydn’s last quartets. Guest clarinetist Giorgos Georgiou joins the string quartet to interpret Cypriot composer Evagoras Karageorgis’s work The dancer of the clay, inspired by Costas Lympouris’ story of the same title, and Brahms’s “autumnal” clarinet quintet, one of the finest samples for this richly-coloured ensemble.
