The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Music Inspector of the Department of Secondary General Education present three family concerts that will both educate and captivate our young audience members!

Under the baton of the Cypriot maestro Andreas Asiikkis, the concerts start with one of the most popular classical works for children, The Carnival of the Animals by the French composer Camille Saint-Saints. It consists of 14 delightful pieces, whereby a variety of animals come to life in a richly imaginative and humorous manner, such as the lion, the swan, birds, chicken, donkeys, as well as some humans! This “Grand Zoological Fantasy” will both entertain and sparkle the imagination of all!

We are extremely happy to announce that the solo piano parts in the Carnival of the animals will be performed by 18 young pianists from the Music Schools of Lefkosia, Lemesos, Famagusta and Pafos. Moreover, students from the Music Schools will be performing with the CySO, side-by-side with the professional musicians. This will surely be a unique and valuable experience for all: the young musicians, the professional musicians and the audience.

Two equally popular works complete the concert: the first movement of Mozart’s Symphony no. 40, full of tenderness and drama, and the sunny, vivacious “Spring” from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi.

This educational programme – co-organised by the CySO Foundation and the Music Inspector at the Department of Secondary General Education of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth – also comprises five morning educational concerts for students of Secondary General Education schools in Lefkosia and Pafos districts.
