Under the masterful baton of Zoe Zeniodi, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra presents four exciting works composed by masters recognized as young geniuses: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frédéric Chopin and Felix Mendelssohn!
The concert opens with the intensely dramatic Overture to Mozart’s Don Giovanni followed by his delightful and virtuosic Rondo for Piano and Orchestra. After Schumann heard 17-year-old Chopin’s Variations on ‘Là ci darem la mano’ for piano and orchestra, he exclaimed: ‘Hats off, gentlemen, a genius!’ The piece is a dazzling showcase of lyrical beauty and technical prowess. The Orchestra is delighted to share the stage with the renowned pianist Paolo Restani, a true piano master, as the soloist in both these works.
Mendelssohn’s vibrant and picturesque Symphony no. 4, known as the ‘Italian’, a work bursting with joy and the warmth of the Mediterranean concludes this magical musical evening.
